The regional government in Barcelona did a very nice thing and organized a week of activities for the new foreign students in the city. There were lots of tours and trips and all were basically free! So, naturally I jumped on the bandwagon and got in a free trip to the nearby town (like 1.5 hrs in train) of Girona :-) (note pic to left...)
We met at 10am in the train station and a giant group of like 100 international students from ALL over jammed into the northern bound train to Girona. Right off the bat I heard some British English and struck up a conversation with some really cool girls. I'm not gonna say my obsession with the British accent played any part in my initial interest :-) but as it turned out I ended up spending the whole day with them and making some great new friends.....awww, haha, that sounds quite little miss sunshine of me.....hehe and I mayyyyy have accidently spoken in a British accent a few times.....what? I can't help it...honest :-)
But of course I love pics, so I took TONS....the city was soooo gorgeous and dates back to Roman times....so here ya goooo :-)
Yah, that's a sah-weet street in the old section of the city....
Me and Daisy (from Wales) :-)
Gotta have one of these! but then one of the girls was like, you know I can take your pic if you want, sooooooo:
I let her :-) and with a pretty sick staircase in the background...
Susie (also from England) and me 'trying' to look angelic in front of a massive church built in honor of the virgin Mary
Just, ya know, your everyday arch as you walk down the street.....
My favoritest pic of the day!!! a fat lil pigeon who found a hole to cuddle up in....so cute!
Looking up to the church from the other side...
Inside some quiiite old Roman saunas and baths...
Emma (Irish but from London) and Eve-Marie (from Paris), the two girls who are actually looking up at the camera :-)
peering through...
Yup! those snow-capped mountains in the distance are indeed the Pyrenees!
Me with a bit of Girona in the background
not the Great Wall...but still quite nice :-) and as I learned from the tour guide (or what I think he said since he was speaking in Catalan and I am still honing up on those skills...) Girona was an important city during the trade days since all goods brought in from Europe through the Pyrenees first passed through here en route to different parts of Spain...hence the fortress-like wall....I know, thank you Jill for the history lesson :-)
Susie, Daisy, Me (random girl in background)
Eve-Marie, Emma and oh yah, Ang was there too!

It's nice to have good friends to associate with in and out of the work environment.Take care and thanks for keeping us current. All our love to you, Charlene & Max
